About Us

Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) is an integrated network of healthcare programs, services and facilities that serve thousands of people throughout Monterey County each year. Opened in 1952, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, a Public District Hospital, is the cornerstone of SVMHS. It is a 266-bed acute care hospital with several specializations that enable people to get the advanced care they need without having to travel out of the area. We employ more than 1,600 people, have a Medical Staff of 300 board-certified physicians across a range of specialties, and partner with affiliates to enhance and expand care throughout the region. Our award-winning care goes beyond our campus with free classes, support groups, screenings and health promoting activities all year long.

We have a number of distinct specializations and programs, including the Harden Memorial Heart Program, Joint Replacement Center, Regional Spine Center, a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Wound Healing Center, Sleep Medicine Center and the Ryan Ranch Center for Advanced Diagnostic Imaging. Through affiliations and partnerships, Salinas Valley Memorial also meets community healthcare needs through a network of urgent care and surgery centers, the region's only Perinatal Diagnostic Center, and an Emergency Department that cares for more than 44,000 patients each year.
